The Cenotaph commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The cenotaph was originally located at the Maffra Avenue of Honour on Sale Road which was planted in 1918 in memory of those from Maffra and District who lost their lives in World War One. It was moved to its present location and rededicated on the 13th April, 1968 in honour of those from the district who died in service or were killed in action in both World Wars.

Additional plaque contains the list of the fallen from Maffra and District who served in World War Two as well as a plaque commemorating conflicts in Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam, Kuwait and Peacekeeping Forces between 1950-2000.
