ERECTED BY THE PRESIDENT, COUNCILLORS & RATEPAYERS OF THE SHIRE OF POOWONG & JEETHO TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE 165 MEN OF THE SHIRE WHO NOBLY FOUGHT & SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES IN THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM & EMPIRE DURING THE GREAT WAR OF 1914 - 1919.

"GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS" AND OF THE MEN OF THE SHIRE (NOW THE SHIRE OF KORUMBURRA) WHO NOBLY FOUGHT AND DIED DURING THE 1939 - 45 WAR.
