The cenotaph commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The cenotaph is a 13.7 metre yellow-painted reinforced concrete structure in the form of an equilateral triangle.  It was supplemented in 2011 with eight black polished granite stones which list the names of approximately 3000 service personnel.

Yesterday part of the ANZAC Day celebrations in Griffith was the unveiling of the cenotaph in Banna Avenue by Mrs. R. H. Bradbury, who worked strenuously in a campaign to raise funds for its construction.
