The monument commemorates local servicemen and women who served in the various conflicts and peacekeeping activities in which Australia has been involved. 

It is a large black granite stone contains the names of those from the District who have served in various conflicts.   It is surrounded by large columns on which are etched the figures of soldiers with heads bowed.
