Fountain commemorates the Boer War and Queen Victoria and is representative of the Imperial patriotism of the period.

Two water towers with four projecting wings flank a pond with two inscriptions, one commemorating those from Ararat who died in the South African War and the other commemorating Queen Victoria

In commemoration of the late illustrious Queen Victoria.  Her court was pure.  Her life serene.  God gave her peace.  Her land reposed.  A thousand claims to reverence closed.  In her as mother, wife and Queen.

In honour of the District representatives in the South African War who freely volunteered for service and gallantly up held the prestige of Australia in that arduous campaign against the foes of Britain`s throne
