These vintage horse troughs were unveiled to the memory of Boer War veterans by Mrs Dorothy Coventry & Mr Burnie Dingle

These vintage water troughs represent the actions of the Australian Mounted Riflemen in Britain`s South African War against the Dutch Republics of Transvaal and the Orange Free State.

`These men volunteered to help the old country` 

16175 men and 16314 horses left Australia to serve in this conflict

The horses did not return

Australian Nursing Sisters made their first appearance in the South African Boer War for Britannia`s Empire

This memorial is dedicated to those early Australians who fought to maintain and strengthen the Empire.  Perhaps the seed of what was to be recognised as "The ANZAC Spirit" were grown during these nineteenth century conflicts.

These vintage horse troughs were given to the citizens of Mornington & District by Robert and Naomi Lettieri Warncoort via Colac Victoria for a memorial to the Boer War Conflict
