The carved wooden plaque commemorates the 100th anniversary of the landing in Hobart of the Amos family who were pioneer settlers in the Cranbrook district. The church was built through their efforts.
The plaque was unveiled by the Presbyterian Moderator of Tasmania on the 100th anniverary of their arrival in the district.

Erected On The 100th Anniversary Of Their Landing In Hobart Town On March 17th 1821 In The "Emerald" Which Was To Sail From England By Private Charter Direct To Van Diemens Land. They Were Granted The Lands Of Glen Gala And Cranbrook, And Through Their Efforts This Church Was Built.
