Jenny (Jinny) Christmas
Dedicated to the memory of Jenny Christmas wife of Jerry Mason of the Nganguruku People, who lived on the riverbank, opposite the town of Mannum in the early days of settlement.
Jenny frequently crossed the river and climbed the cliff to visit the wives, helping with children and the daily chores of observing the ways of the Mannum settlers.
Her way of life changed rapidly as she observed and adopted some of the things she witnessed, such as education for her grandchildren at the Matco Mission run by Mrs Bessie Matthews.
Jenny is fondly remembered by many elderly citizens who knew her when they were children.
