The fountain commemorates Lionel Hunt who was the Lachlan Shire engineer from the 11th of May 1964 to the 1st of December 1978. The fountain was erected as an Australian Bicentenary Project in 1988.

Lionel Hunt was the Shire Engineer for Lachlan
Shire Council from 11th May, 1964 to 1st
December 1978.
This project was funded by the New South Wales
Bicentennial Council and Lachlan Shire Council
to commemorate Australia`s Bicentenary in 1988.
