Miller Reserve was named in recognition of the generosity of the Miller family in providing the land for the reserve in July 1952.
The Reserve was named Miller Reserve in 1952 and the plaque recognising the naming and generosity of the Miller Family was unveiled in the reserve on the 6th December 1980.
The conversion of six acres of land at Linden Park to a reserve will provide the City of Burnside with ample facilities for all types of sport. The land was purchased recently by Burnside Council in conjunction with the Education Department under the Joint Schemes Act. The property, situated in Devereaux road, was made available to the council by the Miller family, of Burnside, and will be known as Miller Reserve. Plans include provisions for two bowling greens, two playing fields, and suitable areas for cricket, football, and other sport. The Education Department has helped in the purchase of the reserve, with the provision that schoolchildren from Linden Park School be allowed to use the area on week days and Saturday mornings for sporting fixtures. Preliminary clearing work has begun to provide some playing areas for use schoolchildren.
