Samuel Walter MilesPrint Page
The gate post to the cemetery commemorates Samuel Walter Miles, a respected member of the community who served in the 41st Battalion during World War One.
Residents of Pimpama and surrounding districts were shocked to learn of the sudden passing of one of this districts most respected residents Mr. Samuel Walter Miles, which took place early on Friday morning. Mr. Miles had been ill only a few days, and had only entered hospital on Thursday morning. The funeral on Saturday from the Pimpama Methodist Church to the Crematorium, was very largely attended. Sympathy is extended to Mrs Miles, Dave, Bob and Isobel and grandchildren and to sisters, Miss C. Miles and Mesdames E. Stanfield and A. Wilkie. Owing to the death of Mr. Miles, the School of Arts Dance which was to have been held on Saturday night, was abandoned as a mark of respect.
