Erected 1869 bBy R. L. M. Kitto for the Australian United Gold Mining Co.
This plaque commemorates the Cornish heritage of the Castlemaine area.
The engineers and miners and their families who with their skill and labour developed Victorian industries and communities.
Recognition is here given to the enterprise and community involvement of the Rowe family of Fryerstown, (formerly of Camborne, Cornwall) who subsequently owned & operated this mine.
