The plaque commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Burke and Wills` expedition which camped at Tragowel Station in September 1860. 

The expedition by Burke and Wills to the Gulf of Carpentaria passed through Tragowel. On 2 September 1860, the expedition group led by Robert O`Hara Burke arrived at the homestead of Abraham Booth and John Holloway on the Loddon River, called Tragowell Station (later renamed to Tragowel Estate).

for Reedy Lake station, 20km north,
crossing the Loddon at Old Kerang.
