Celebrating 100 years of worship at St. Aidan`s Carrum in the year 2002
These centenary windows are to honour all who have worshipped on this site, to remind us to worship our Lord with grateful hearts, and to encourage children to learn of Him and His Creation. (See Genesis 1 & 2 and find each of the days represented here.)
The windows tell of His gifts surrounding us, the glory of the sky and sunsets, bays and beaches, and the life of the wetlands. We give thanks for our inheritance from those who have been here before us, and pray that He will inspire us to enhance their legacy for those who come after us, and to at all times preserve and protect His Creation.
The window symbols :
The Crown : Represents God the Father, the Almight, the King of Creation.
The Boat : Dually represents Jesus our Saviour, the Fisher of Men ; and also human life.
The Flames : Represent the Holy Spirit, from which rises God`s word, the Holy Bible.
The Waves : Remind us of teeming life and God`s abundance, while their gentle curves suggest rest and tranquility.
The Hills : Represent comfort and security.
The Rocks : Represent strength.
The Pelican : When there is no other sustenace, the pelican feeds its young with its own blood, and has long been a symbol for sacrifical love.
Radiating Rays : Represent God`s love, power, blessings and presence.
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small.
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.
