The Sans Souci Literary Institute was dedicated to the residents of the district on the 7th July 1923.

The building of the Sans Souci Literary Institute will be completed shortly, the various contractors being well on the way with the necessary work. It is situated at the corner of Ramsgate Road and Campbell Streets, in the most central part of the district. When complete, the building will have cost £1,500, of which £600 was raised by voluntary contributions, carnivals and donations from the residents, who have responded well to the calls made upon them.

The balance, £900, has been borrowed from the Government Savings Bank, at 6 per cent, interest. The supervision of the erection of the building is in the capable hands of Messrs. W Clarke, and Don Mclntyre, honorary architects, who with Mr. E. Newman, the foreman carpenter, have made rapid strides in the progress of erection. It is proposed to hold a bazaar in the building on the 5th, 6th and 7th July next, to raise funds for the purchase of piano, billiard tables, library, etc. A public meeting was held at Gillon's Hall, on Tuesday, 8th inst., at which several local organisations were represented, to constitute a bazaar committee. Considerable enthusiasm has already  been shown by the various bodies, and the Institute Committee have every hope of a bumper success. Mr. T. J. Ley, M.L.A., Minister for Justice, has kindly consented to open the bazaar.
