The honour rolll commemorates those from the Yarrabandai District who served in World War Two.

The roll is located near a framed photo of R.H. (Ron) Middleton V.C. who was a jackeroo at Leewang station in the Yarranbandai District.

On 28 November 1942, Middleton was captain of a Stirling I bomber (serial BF372) detailed to bomb the Fiat works at Turin. His aircraft was hit by enemy fire and he and some of his crew were seriously wounded.  He attempted to make the British coast while under enemy fire and ordered his crew to bail out when he reached the British coast . Five of his crew did so but Middleton and two crew members flew the aircraft out to sea to avoid civilian casualties. He ordered the last two crewman to bail out and crashed his aircraft into the English Channel. The two crewmen did not survive the night in the English Channel and Middleton's body was washed ashore on the 1st February 1943. Middleton was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions.
