The Australia Remembers plaque, erected on "Yellow Ribbon Day", commemorates the 50th anniversary of the return of World War Two prisoners of war through Darwin and the return of civilian evacuees to their home.
"Australia Remembers, 1945 - 1995" was a program of activities organised by the Federal Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
