Mount Isa Mines Memorial PoolPrint Page
The Splashez Aquatic Centre which was originally called the Mount Isa Mines Memorial Pool commemorates employees of Mount Isa Mines and citizens of Mount Isa who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two.
Retail stores in Mount Isa have sold hundreds of bathing suits in expectation of the opening the the luxury swimming pool. The pool, on the banks of the Leichhardt River is of Olympic standard size, floodlit from under the water and surrounded by newly planted lawns. It is hoped the pool will be open before Christmas. Mount Isa Mines have dedicated the pool as a memorial to the men who died in the Second World War.
