Royal Australian Air Force Liberator Squadrons Print Page
The plaque commemorates those who served with the Royal Australian Air Force (R.A.A.F.) Liberator Squadrons and the 180 personnel who died in service or were killed in action during World War Two.
The R.A.A.F Liberators saw service in the South West Pacific theatre of World War Two. Flying mainly from bases in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia the aircraft conducted bombing raids against Japanese positions, ships and strategic targets in New Guinea, Borneo and the Netherlands East Indies.
