The plaque, mounted on a plinth, commemorates those who served in the Arctic convoys which supplied Russia, a wartime ally, in its fight against Germany on the Eastern Front during World War Two.

Arctic Convoy Veterans
South Australia -  Est. 1990

Commemorating the Veterans of this Association and the many fellow mariners who lost their lives in action, who, while serving in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Artillery Maritime Unit and the Merchant Navy, played their part in fighting-through many convoys to the North Russian ports of Murmansk and Archangel. These deliveries of vital supplies and equipment to beleagured Russia, in the period August 1941 to May 1945, contributed significantly to the defeat of Nazi Germany
