Australian Natives’ Association Branch Number 2 War MemorialPrint Page

The memorial commemorates members of the Australian Natives’ Association (A.N.A.) Branch Number 2 those who served in World War Two. It was unveiled by Mr John Fletcher M.P. on the 22nd of November 1946.
As the A.N.A. was exclusively male organisation until 1960, and it was unveiled in November 1946, we assume that the names of the servicewomen on the monument relate to members of the separate arm of the A.N.A., the Australasian Women’s Association (A.W.A.) which was formed in 1900.
