Inman Valley Roll of HonourPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates those who served in World War Two. It was unveiled in the church hall in 1946.
At the invitation of the Inman Valley Patriotic Committee a very large gathering of people assembled in the Inman Valley Church Hall on last Sunday afternoon, the occasion being a thanksgiving service for the safe return of many of the lads from the services and also the unveiling of a very fine honour roll. The chairman (Mr. H. L. Lush) introduced Rev. L. F. Ashman, of Yankalilla, and Dr. Graham Shipway, of Victor Harbour. Mr. Ashman gave a very fine address, suitable to the occasion, and Dr. Shipway unveiled the honour roll and called for a minute’s silence in memory of the two fallen lads. Mr. Lush drew the people’s attention to the Red Cross Certificate hanging between the honour rolls of World War 1 and World War II which were presented to the Red Cross Circle of this district by South Australian Red Cross officials.
Approximately £1700 was collected by the ladies of the Red Cross in this district. Mr. W. A. Williams officiated at the organ and the secretary (Mr. W. Kay) assisted in the afternoon’s arrangements. Men whose names appear on the honour roll are as follows:—R. I. Crisp, C. I. Grosvenor, P. M. Grosvenor, R. A. Grosvenor, S. F. Hacklin, H. J. Hagger, F. Hough, R. J. Hutchinson, G. C. Hutchinson, A.
