Wellington Memorial PoolPrint Page
The pool commemorates those who served in World War Two.
Considerable interest centres on next Wednesday's meeting of our Shire Council and speculation is wide spread throughout town and district on whether Council will decide to go right ahead with the construction of the World War II. Memorial Olympic Pool. At this juncture, there would appear to be little prospect of the target of £8000 which the Festival Committee set for itself being attained and, therefore, the Shire President, Cr. Masters, is not morally bound to proceed with his promise that he would recommend an immediate start. Nevertheless, an amount approaching £6000 has been raised and it is practically certain that the round figure will be exceeded by the time the Swimming Club's programme to assist the project is completed during the swimming season.
