Urana & District Honour RollPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those from Urana and District who served in World War Two.
Little has been heard of the activities of the committee of the Soldiers' Memorial Hall, Urana, since the appeal for £7,000 was made some time ago. This committee has not gone in to 'smoke' as one might be lead to believe but has been carrying on an exchange of ideas, plans etc., with their appointed architect. This has been found necessary as public money is involved and further that the amount of approximately £2,500 collected fell drastically short of the original figure on which plans had been based.
At a recent meeting it was decided to end the 'parley' and get on with something definite within the bounds of the capital in hand. First and foremost is the honor roll for 1939-45 war, plans of which were perused and a suitable one selected. This matter is to be proceeded with immediately. This move of course includes the renovation of the existing 1914-18 war honor roll already in existence in the main entrance.
