The plaque commemorates members of the Queensland Police Force who resigned to fight for their country in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
During World War One, Queensland Police Officers did not have to resign to serve their country and thirty paid the supreme sacrifice. It is unknown how many gave their lives during World War Two as Queensland Police Officers were required to resign from the force.

Dedicated to the memory of Queensland Police officers who resigned to serve their country in the armed forces in all conflicts, sometimes making the ultimate sacrifice.

In World War II, because Police officers were required to resign from the Queensland Police Force , it is unknown how many gave their lives in that conflict.
During World War I, Police Officers were allowed to enlist but did not have to resign from the force to do so. Up to ten percent of the police force served in the armed forces between 1914 and 1918 with thirty officers losing their lives.
