Scotchman`s Lead Roll of HonourPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates former students of the school and those from the district who served in both World Wars. It originally contained 20 names, was unveiled on the 8th December 1917 at the school as there was no public hall.
Note : It is unknown by Monument Australia if this is the original roll.
Today (Saturday) will be one of the proudest days in the history of Scotchman's Lead , inasmuch as it is the day chosen for the unveiling of the honor roll lately to perpetuate the memory of the fallen, wounded and others, of the Scotchman's boys, who have since the beginning of the war gone to the front. The unveiling ceremony will be undertaken by Cr Tonkin, president of the Buninyong Shire. As there is no public hall at Scotchman's the ceremony will take place in the local State school. As described in "The Star" of last Wednesday, the honor board is a handsome and artistic piece of workmanship.
Today also will be observed as Flower Day by the pupils of the school. Afternoon tea will be provided by the ladies of the school committee, and the day's proceedings will wind up with a concert in the evening, the items for which will be contributed by Buninyong and local talent.
