Paris Creek Honour RollPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates those who served in World War One and World War Two.
With the progress, development, and closer settlement of the Paris Creek district the residents had for a considerable time felt the need for a public building for the community's use, and with that object in view had during the past year or two, held various functions to raise money towards this object and the fund had amounted to £170. The ground for which the committee expressed their appreciation, was given by Mr. Williamson.
With keen enthusiasm and an energetic committee of Messrs. M. Pearce chairman; C. G. Arney, vice-president R .M. Wray, secretary; M. McKenzie, treasurer; M. Williamson, F. Baughan and E. Dugmore, it was proposed to erect a soldiers' memorial hall. Opportunity was taken and a Red Cross recreation hut largely furnished was obtained and recently re-erected, and on Wednesday of last week a gala day was held when the Hon. A. G. Cameron, M.H.R., officially declared the hall open, and also unveiled the honour roll bearing the names of two from the 1914 war and 13 from the war just concluded, one of whom paid the supreme sacrifice.
