Woodford Leigh District Honour RollPrint Page
The honour roll commemorates those from the Woodford Leigh district who served in World Wars One and Two.
It comprises three wooden honour rolls with gold lettering. The central board is for those who served in World War One and there are two boards mounted either side for those who served in World War Two. The World War Two roll was unveiled on the 24th May 1947.
The main business at the last meeting of the Woodford Leigh P. and C. Association concerned the annual Empire Day picnic and the unveiling of the district honour board in conjunction with the picnic. At the same time, servicemen's certificates would be presented. The honour roll committee met at the conclusion of the P. and C. meeting to make final arrangements for the unveiling ceremony on Saturday, May 24. Written invitations were being forwarded to the parents of deceased servicemen and to all servicemen whose names appeared on the roll.
