The hall commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. 

The Lockhart Memorial Hall Committee recently appointed a Special Finance Committee to explore ways and means of raising the balance of funds necessary to complete its plan for improvements to the whole building by enlarging the Main Hall. Whilst the Supper Room and kitchen are modern and  spacious and meet the requirements of the town and district the Hall is far too small. The Committee's plans are to widen the Hall by a further twenty-one feet on the Shire Office side thus providing a dance floor area of 70 feet by 51 feet as against 70 feet by 30 feet as at present.

The finances of the Memorial Hall are in a very sound position. The income is a little more than necessary to meet running expenses and there is a credit bank balance of £888. The Committee at first proposed to raise the loan of approximately £5,000 on the property which is debt-free but the excess of income over expenditure is not sufficient to finance such a loan. After giving a great deal of consideration to the whole matter and the urgency of extending the Hall, the Committee has decided on a goal of £5,000, as much as possible to be raised by an all-out public effort. It has been agreed to hold a Monster Hall Sports Gymkhana at Lockhart on the 1st January, 1954.

The Hall Committee feels that citizens of Lockhart and district appreciate that the Memorial Hall is the district Memorial to the members of the fighting services and that the members of the Hall Committee are the citizens' representatives in the endeavour to ensure the completion of a structure that is a credit to them. Accordingly the Hall Committee seeks the co-operation and assistance of every member of the Public in bringing the venture to a satisfactory conclusion.
