The memorial commemorates all those who served on the four ships named HMAS Sydney. The memorial features an elaborately sculptured water feature surrounded by bronze plaques. The memorial is aligned with the memorial mast. 

The plaques for HMAS Sydney I, II and III list the names of those who lost their lives while serving on these vessels. There is also a plaque detailing the finding of the wreck of the HMAS Sydney II in 2008.
