The pool commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The pool also contains the Willochra Memorial Dressing Sheds which were opened with the pool in 1962.

A major upgrade was undertaken at the pool with grants of $500,000 and $300,000 from the federal and state governments respectively as well a $1.1 million contribution from council. The new revamped pool was officially opened on the 26th January 2015.
