Poochera Memorial HallPrint Page
The hall commemorates those who served in World War One and World War Two.
At a well attended meeting of district residents held at Poochera on Thursday night, June 20, to discuss and formulate plans for a war memorial, it was decided to build a new hall to provide facilities for the cultural and recreational activities of the community. To co-ordinate the efforts of the citizens of the district towards this aim the following committee was elected:—Messrs. P. Francey (chairman), B. Webb (secretary, N. Gosling (assistant secretary), Mrs. G. Higgins (treasurer), Mrs. E. M. Lynch, Miss M. Tomney, Messrs. J. Mortimer, E. L. Beck, and M. Mudge.
A subscription list was opened, and in a short time promises totalling a substantial sum had been received. The enthusiasm displayed augurs well for the success of this ambitious venture by Poochera and district residents to provide a memorial worthy of their fighting men. Subscriptions forwarded to the committee will be acknowedged in these columns.
