The monument commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the end of World War Two and is a tribute to those from Ardrossan and district who have served in the conflicts in which Australia has been involved from the start of World War Two.

The monument is a grey marble tile tapered pillar surmounted by a stainless steel Cross of Sacrifice. A black plaque is affixed to the face. A time capsule is contained within the pillar. The monument is set on a black marble sur-base and white marble bricks. All details are in white.

"Australia Remembers, 1945-1995" was a program of activities organised by the Federal Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
