The monument was unveiled by Senator Brigadier General Elliott, D.S.O., D.C.M., D.C., D.M. on the 2nd September 1922. It is a life sized figure of an Australian soldier on a column which contains the names of all the returned soldiers of the Edenhope District as well as those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.
The names of those who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two were added at a later date.
