The Dennington War Memorial was originally erected to commemorate the men of the district who fought in World War One.

Plaques have been added to the memorial to honour those who served in World War Two and W.Carroll who was killed in action in Vietnam. Funding was received in 2020/21 through the Saluting Their Service Grant Program to update the memorial to include the names of those who served in World War Two.

A soldiers' memorial in the form of an imposing stone obelisk on pedestal base been completed and unveiled at Dennington. It stands 20 feet high, and on it are the names of nine local soldiers who fell in the war; and 19 returned soldiers. The unveiling ceremony was performed by the Minister of Customs (Mr. A. S. Rodgers), in the presence of a large gathering.
Age (Melbourne), 30 November 1922.
