The hall commemorates those who have served in the various conlficts in which Australia has been involved.

Nildottie, August 3. A public meeting was held on July 26 in Mrs. Gierke's barn to discuss the matter of building a public hall at Nildottie. It was resolved to form a committee and commence raising funds in aid of the building of a hall. It was also decided to elect a general committee of all residents in the district interested in this venture, with a smaller working committee.

The committee was named "The Soldiers' Memorial Fund" committee, and comprises the following: Chairman, Mr. L. O. Prosser; vice-chairman, Mr. M. B. Fromm, Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. L. C. Norman; assistant secretary, Mr. A. M. Gierke; committee, Messrs. A. B. Matschoss, E. A. Croehn, J. Loechel, C. H. Grieger, H. B. Gierke,  Auditors, Messrs. H. W. Day and W. H. Prosser; ladies' committee, Miss Elva Jaenisch, Mesdames L. C. Carman, E. A. Kroehn, J. Loechel and M. Prosser.
