Wauchope Memorial Olympic PoolPrint Page
The pool was erected as a war memorial in memory of those who have served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
At Monday's meeting of Hastings Shire Council it was decided on a motion put forward by the President (Councillor H. S. Bransdon) to build a Memorial Swimming Pool (preferably to Olympic standard) in Wauchope, finance to be provided on a 50-50 basis — half by the Wauchope Urban Area and half by the Shire. The decision was made after Council had heard a deputation of Wauchope citizens who asked that the Pool be financed from the general rates collected within the Urban Area of Wauchope over a period of four years.
