The church was erected in memory of those who died in service or were killed in action in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The Kernot Memorial Uniting Church building was opened on 8/6/1957 by the State Moderator, the Right Rev J Hadden-Bates. The building is erected on land donated by the Henry Family, in memory of a son lost in World War Two.
