Nurses Memorial Print Page
The granite based sculpture, depicting a standing nurse comforting a wounded digger, commemorates the role of military nurses in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
On the 15th December 2016, Redlands RSL Sub Branch received a grant from the Qld Office of Liquor and Gaming for $33,000 to be used towards the construction of this bronze nurse and soldier statue.
About 8000 nurses volunteered to work for the Australian Defence Force throughout the world wars, with essential health services still provided to officers by medical staff employed by the Department.
