Dalby Methodist ChurchPrint Page
The church was built as a war memorial to commemorate those who served in World Wars One and Two.
A large number of adherents of the Methodist Church, in Dalby and district, as well as friends, gathered on Saturday afternoon to see the president of the Queensland Methodist Conference (Rev. H. W. Prouse) perform the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the proposed new church.
Rev. Prouse reminded the gathering that it was to be a memorial church, to those who had made sacrifices for their country, and said that it had been a joy to see the spirit that existed between the Australian and American troops during the war. He hoped that Britain and America would come closer together. Ald. Jack had wisely pointed to what was white-anting the best in Australia, as well as elsewhere. Only when the teachings of Christ were accepted, could they co-operate with God, and the church of Jesus Christ was the greatest monument on this earth to day. All the teachings the world had ever known could not compare with their Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was the only Saviour. Rev. Prouse said that while the Dalby Church would be a memorial to great people, he did not want them to forget that the church was the greatest institution on earth. There were associations in Australia and Queensland that were working to the detriment of the people. Unfortunately, Dalby was not the only place where all the people did not go to church.
