The plaque was originally located on a fountain erected to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
The fountain is no longer at this location but the plaque is located in front of a small pond.

This memorial fountain was erected in memory of the fallen by the Sub-Branches of the Returned Services League within the Shire of Sutherland and dedicated by His Excellency the Governor of New South Wales Sir Roden Cutler V.C., K.C.M.G.,K.C.V.O., C.B.E.
