The monument commemorates the National Servicemen who were conscripted into the Australian Defence Force between the years 1951 and 1972.

Between 1951 and 1972, a total of 287,000 young Australian men were called up in two separate schemes for compulsory training in the Navy, Army and Air Force.  Of them, 212 died on active service in Borneo and Vietnam. National Service was part of Australia’s defence preparedness for three decades.

This memorial is dedicated to the 325,811 National Servicemen who were conscripted into the Australian Defence Force between the years 1951 - 1972

During this time there were two distinct call up periods which saw 187 young Australians killed in service and 1479 wounded

Erected by the Nashos League of W.A. Inc. in conjunction with the Wongan Hills R.S.L.
