The plaque commemorates the attainment of one million pounds of depositors balances by the branch on the 30th June 1948.
 
On Friday next, 6th August, at 3 p.m., His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Louis Ey) will unveil a tablet outside the Gawler Branch of The Savings Bank of South Australia. The tablet will commemorate the attainment of £1,000,000 of depositor's balances by the Gawler Branch, of which Mr. F.S. Johnston is the manager. A party comprising several of the Bank's Trustees and the General Manager will visit Gawler for the occasion.
