Celebrating 125 years of service

Cape Nelson Lightstation was officially opened
July 7th, 1884

The Mayor of the Borough of Portland Mr. P. W. Shevill lit the white light and Mr. W. T. Pile illuminated the red lights.

`With a flame he awakened the candle-powered lens to shine brightly as a beacon of hope offering safe passage to all guided by its watchful beam.

Dedicated to the memory of the first Head Keeper William Fish and those who followed.
