The plaque was erected in memory of William D. Burnett, manager of the Oriental Bank at Murrumburrah, who was accidently killed when thrown from a buggy at Burrowa in 1881. 

A Magisterial Inquiry was held on Wednesday last, in the courthouse (before Mr. W. J.E. Wotton,J.P.), touching on the death of William David Burnett, of the Oriental Bank, Murrumburrah, who died that morning from injuries received by being thrown from a buggy.
