A statue commemorates Rugby League player Michael Weyman who was born in Moruya. 

Michael Weyman (born 13 September 1984) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the St. George Illawarra Dragons of the National Rugby League (NRL).

A New South Wales State of Origin representative front row forward, he also previously played club football with the Canberra Raiders before moving to the Dragons with whom he won the 2010 NRL Premiership. In 2010 he was selected in the Australian test team to play New Zealand.
