The plaque commemorates athlete Michael Cleary.

A gifted athlete who was a schoolboy sprint champion in 1958, he won a bronze medal in the 100 yards at the 1962 Commonwealth Games and used his speed and power so effectively on the football field that he played for Australia as a winger in both rugby union and rugby league. He later became an SCG Trustee.
