A monument commemorates Parish priest, Father Anthony Miazzi of North Lismore who was killed in a plane crash.

Father Miazzi (a member of the Scalabrinian Order) was a much-loved parish priest in North Lismore and there served many of the descendents of New Italy. He was killed in a plane crash in 1968. A memorial to Father Miazzi was constructed at the Catholic Church, North Lismore but when the parish closed it was decided to move the monument to New Italy. The Monument was reconstructed in the new Park of Peace in 1991.
