The seat commemorates Reverend Robertson of Scots Kirk and his wife. John Gray Robertson, Reverend, was minister-in-charge of Scots Kirk, Mosman, 1941-1969. The seat and plaque were erected on his retirement in 1969.
Scots Kirk, Mosman, then known as Mosman Presbyterian Church, was established on March 8, 1898 by local residents many of whom had Scottish forebears. There have only been six ministers since that time.
