A plaque erected by the congregation commemorates the founder of the church, Reverend Peter Falconer Mackenzie.

Mrs Hunter Baillie, a daughter of Rev. J. D. Lang, built the church with the stipulation that her nephew by marriage, the Rev. P. F. Mackenzie, should be the first Minister and have a vested interest in the church for life. When the matter was first discussed Mr Mackenzie chose Annandale for the church because it was a developing suburb, and was deficient in the supply of religious ordinances
